Martin Trisley

Martin lives and breathes the law. He loves it almost as much as sports, which is no coincidence, having trained from a very young age under his well-regarded solicitor father, the Late Paul Trisley, in whose name the Australia and New Zealand Sports Law Association still present the annual award for the best academic paper on sports law. Martin also has specialist tertiary education in Sports Commerce and the Law, which he undertook at the University of Melbourne (probably just to win the Paul Trisely Award).

Martin carved out his own impressive path, following his admission in 1995. In his thirty years of experience, he has become deeply entrenched in his love for litigation and dispute resolution, having run significant and complex cases in the High Court of Australia, the Full Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia, the NSW Court of Appeal, the NSW Criminal Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of NSW, the District Court of NSW, the Local Court of NSW and even NCAT (if you actually made it to the end of that sentence, there are more – just ask). He has also worked with a very impressive array of top barristers over the years, learning closely from some who have gone on to become accomplished Judges, and his contact base now is just as valuable for the clients he works with.

His work has lead to his recognition by the prestigious Doyle’s Guide, honorary solicitor appointments from the Newcastle District Cricket Association and the Newcastle Netball Association, and the Housing Industry Association (HIA). He is also an active and contributing member to the City and Suburban Cricket Association, the Newcastle District Basketball Association, the Charlestown District Cricket Club, and the New Lambton Cricket Club (which are all voluntary positions). However, all of this, and the major league baseball, endurance mountain racing and golf is set to slow right down, as Dominic recruited him in late 2024 to help spearhead both litigation and disputes and criminal advocacy, and pulled him away from Newcastle down to civilisation in the Cross.

When it comes to civil litigation and disputes involving almost anything, and criminal law, he trusted and respected by Dominic, barristers and clients, along with the rest of the Green & Associates Solicitors team, who value his guidance and support.
